Membership for an adult is $50.00 per year and covers the period of January 1, 2023 - December 31, 2023. Retirees and Students Membership is $35.00 per year. Per Executive Board vote October 26, 2022, everyone joining METRO CABSE Cleveland Affiliate, is to pay membership due amounts, locally agreed upon. Please understand your dues are being processed thorough the Ohio Alliance of Black School Educators site and $10.00 of your membership dues goes directly to them, the other is paid back monthly to METRO CABSE Cleveland Affiliate.

Our History

In December of 1981, the Metropolitan Cleveland Alliance of Black School Educators (Metro CABSE) was organized by a group of administrators, counselors, teachers, and classified personnel under the leadership of Dr. Daniel Drake.

Metro CABSE became an affiliate of the National Alliance of Black School Educators in 1982. Since that time, it has also been active with the Ohio Alliance of Black School Educators (OABSE).

    • General membership meetings for reports to members, professional growth and networking
    • Co-hosting or hosting national and state conferences
    • Sponsorship of receptions for new teachers
    • Scholarship and award banquets, luncheons, brunches
    • Candidate’s night for the prospective board of education members
    • Forums for students, parents & educators
    • Professional development workshops
    • Honoring living legends in education
    • Kwanzaa celebrations and workshops
    • Support for tutorial projects
    • Networking mixers
    • National and local speakers, a few examples: Area Superintendents, Irene Bandy, Virgil Brown Jr., Dennis Dowdell, Dr. Julian Earls, John Hairston, Bruce Hare,   Paul Hill, Dr. Jawanza Kunjufu,   Dr. Julianne Malveaux, Dr. Manning Marable,     Dr. George McKenna, Patricia and Floyd McKissack, Dr. Ivan Van Sertima, Dr. Obadiah Williams, and Mayor Michael R. White.
